06 Aug Anderson East
If we could get together St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Leon Bridges, Durand Jones & The Indications, and Anderson East, we could have a whole stage dedicated to the R&B/soul revival we never knew we needed.
Anderson East and his gravelly, soulful voice hit the music scene in 2015—hard—with his debut album, Delilah, and he hasn’t stopped rocketing forward since. His first big hits, “Satisfy Me” and “Devil In Me”, sounded like a step back in time, harkening back to the soulful, gritty sounds of the late 60s and early 70s.
The album led him to sold out solo shows, plus touring with the likes of Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell, and Chris Stapleton. His sophomore release, Encore, came out in early 2018 to critical acclaim. His sound was more focused and expansive all at once. Layers of instruments—including strings and ample horns—gave it a fuller, more mature sound. We don’t know what Anderson East will do next, but we can’t wait for it.
