Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifters

We know what you’re thinking—why is there an artist discovery post about one of the greatest rock n’ roll singers of all time? Why on Earth would we need to read about Robert Plant and his golden voice? The frontman of Led Zeppelin, for god’s sake!

We know, we know. But we thought you might want to know a little bit more about him and his newest touring band, The Sensational Space Shifters. For those of you who have followed Mr. Plant, you’ll remember that for much of the early 2000s, his music of choice was a mix of blues, bluegrass, and folk, which included an incredible duet album with Alison Krauss.

In 2012, he formed The Sensational Space Shifters and recorded a few albums with the group, including 2017’s Carry Fire.

The group’s studio albums tended to stay closer to Plant’s quieter, more folksy Zeppelin tunes, but their live show is a whole different story. The band mixes songs from their albums, plus a hefty number of Zeppelin tunes, and amazingly, Plant has still got it. Once a rock star, always a rock star.
