21 Jun What’s New at LouFest
Every year, we work hard to think beyond the stage and make the LouFest experience one that will stay with you long after the music stops.
A Labor of Local Love
Nine years later, we’re still here, and still putting on one hell of a party in Forest Park. Aside from the world-renowned recording artists and soul shaking sets, what makes LouFest so special is the community that supports the festival (that’s you!) and all the local love on display. This year, we’re delighted to debut some exciting new installations and experiences that will make the 2018 festival one you won’t wanna miss.
Beer Me: Introducing Brewfest
As the newly crowned “Best Beer City in America” (thank you USA Today) we are excited to partner with the St. Louis Brewers Guild to bring you Brewfest at LouFest. We’ve opened up the beer category for local breweries, and expect to feature several local breweries, including 4Hands, Schlafly, and Urban Chestnut among others. Festival goers have been asking for more local beer options, and we’ve been listening. Stay tuned for more beer updates and a full list of breweries.
Fizz & Folly
Last year, we had a vision—a vision where LouFesters could have restaurant quality cocktails at the festival. Top notch bartenders. High end liquor. Smiles on 21+ faces as far as the eye could see. Fizz & Folly pays homage to the first cocktail party in history, over a century ago—right here in St. Louis. We’re excited to announce that it will be back this year—bigger and bolder than before. We’ve partnered with some of the region’s best mixologists and spirit brands to create a Fizz & Folly experience that would make Don Draper weak in the knees.
Kranzberg Arts Foundation X LouFest
We’re bringing it back to the city’s music roots of jazz and blues—LouFest has officially partnered with The Kranzberg Arts Foundation to develop a new Musicians Residency Program. The partnership will cultivate new on and offstage opportunities for emerging local musicians. Stay tuned for LouFest satellite events at KAF venues such as The Grandel and .ZACK that will culminate on a special Jazz and Heritage Stage at LouFest 2018. As a result of this joint venture and our continued support of local musicians, we are proud to have the largest amount local bands we’ve ever had (15)!
For the second year in a row, the Friday night before LouFest we’re hosting LouFest U—a FREE college student-only event. LouFest U is a partnership with the St. Louis Regional Chamber and features a speaker series, bands, career exploration, and much more. Expect more national headlining acts and a “battle of the bands,” where bands will battle it out for a chance to play on the LouFest U stage. Mingle with reps from regional corporations and startups (because, hey, you need to find a job soon). There’s no better way to ease your back-to-school nerves than with an end of the summer party. Catch all the updates as they happen on LouFest U’s Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts, and be sure to sign up for our email list!
No Babysitter, No Problem
Growth and Expansion of LouKidz
LouKidz has continued to grow since its 2015 debut and this year’s version is bigger and better than ever! The LouKidz area is a musical utopia for kids, compete with a DJ booth, dancing, a bubble bus, face painting, hair braiding, games, and SO much more. Kids 12 and under get in to LouFest free of charge with a ticketed adult.
Get excited, we have so many great new onsite activations for you this year. Barefoot Wines is bringing a shipping container bar, because drinking classy wine in a shipping container is very 2018. Other exciting boozy activations will include experiences from Rebel Yell, RumHaven, Fireball, plus Narwhal’s brand spankin’ new slushy truck.
The culinary juggernaut that is the Nosh Pit is back and better than ever with new and exciting vendors—all from right here in St. Louis. The full Nosh Pit lineup will be unveiled later this summer, but keep your eyes peeled for some teasers.
Imagine a LouFest experience where you’re rocking out on stage to your favorite artists, eating food from St. Louis’ best chefs, drinking cocktails from St. Louis’ best mixologists, and using deluxe air-conditioned bathrooms—all without having to wait in line.
